Intravenous (IV) Therapy in Waterloo
Nutrient support, delivered safely and individually.
IV therapy delivers vitamins and minerals directly into the bloodstream, bypassing digestion so they’re available for immediate use. At Beechwood Family Wellness, IVs are evidence-informed, doctor-supervised, and individualized—never one-size-fits-all.
Who it may help:
People who are looking for support with:
• Low energy or frequent fatigue
• Recovery from illness or periods of high stress
• Hydration needs (e.g., frequent headaches from dehydration)
• Digestive issues affecting absorption, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD: Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis)
• General wellness during busy seasons
• Support during or after cancer treatment (see details below)
IV therapy is adjunctive (used alongside your usual care), not a cure or replacement for medical treatment.
What we infuse (tailored after assessment):
• Vitamin C (dose adjusted to your needs)
• B-complex and B12
• Magnesium
• Trace minerals (e.g., zinc, selenium as appropriate)
• Hydration (balanced electrolytes)
Safety first:
• Doctor-led care (administered by Dr. Margaret Prange, ND)
• Medication/allergy review; labs as needed (e.g., G6PD for higher-dose vitamin C)
• Sterile technique and monitoring throughout
Support during cancer care
• Our role is supportive—focused on comfort, hydration, and maintaining nutrient status during or after conventional treatment.
• We coordinate with your oncology team and review medications/infusion schedules to avoid interactions.
• Some formulations are not appropriate during active chemotherapy or certain targeted therapies; we’ll advise case-by-case.
• We do not diagnose or cure cancer, and we do not recommend IVs where they’re contraindicated.
Not everyone is a candidate
IV therapy may not be appropriate if you have significant kidney or heart disease, hemochromatosis, certain electrolyte disorders, a known allergy to components, active fever/infection, or pregnancy (for some formulas). We’ll discuss your individual risks and alternatives.
What to expect
• Length: 30-60 minutes in a comfortable chair
• Feel: a small pinch at the start; most people relax, read, or listen to music
• After: many feel well-hydrated and refreshed; responses vary by person and formula
How many sessions?
Some patients book a short series (e.g., weekly for a few weeks); others come seasonally or as needed. We’ll personalize a plan—or advise against IVs if a different approach fits you better.
Coverage and fees
IV therapy is not covered by OHIP. Some extended health plans reimburse naturopathic services—check your benefits. Itemized receipts are provided.
